On the nature of dreams is a miniature employing six pitches of the chromatic scale: C, C-sharp, D, F-sharp, G, and G-Sharp. Essential characteristics of the work include simplicity, intervallic clarity, and subtle shifts in timbre. The piece was written with the word “beauty” in mind.
